Your Hudson Library
For 137 years, the Hudson Library of Highlands, North Carolina has been a cornerstone of our community, and now we're embarking on an exciting new chapter of growth and renovation. The Hudson Library Foundation is leading initiatives to enhance our spaces with new study rooms, outdoor improvements, and a dedicated teen area, while maintaining our essential collections and technology. A Storied History
From a single bookcase in a rural schoolhouse to a vibrant community hub, the Hudson Library's journey mirrors the growth and spirit of our town itself. Each chapter of our library's story has been written by the dedication of Hudson's citizens – from the townspeople who carried books by hand to our first dedicated building in 1894, to the generous bequest that enabled our current home. This rich history of community support and transformation continues to inspire our vision for the future.
Growing Together
Through extensive community engagement and careful planning, we've identified key opportunities to enhance the Hudson Library experience for everyone.
